"So the fight is on again?"
"If you are referring to the fight that was launched by the Sindh Home Minister's rather harsh words against a coalition partner yet again..."
"The key phrase is 'yet again'... this is not the first time that the Sindh Interior Minister has implicated the coalition partner."
"So I guess it won't be the last, but why now?"
"Could it be the refusal of the coalition partner to support the PPP in the center on reformed general sales tax? This is the second time the PPP would be left holding the bag vis-a-vis this particular coalition partner on an issue that is important to it. The first time was on the National Reconciliation Ordinance."
"The solution is simple: the PPP should do the same as it did with the NRO... Eat humble pie, table the bill but never ever present it to parliament for a vote? That is a tried and tested strategy after all."
"That's silly..."
"I guess but there is speculation that if the bill is presented and the government loses then it may fall?"
"You are out of your mind? The Hajj scandal, the Supreme Court orders for arrest of some federal ministers, the National Insurance multimillion dollar scam, the PIA and Steel Mill losses and nothing, no one resigned, no one explained, investigation was stalled and..."
"So if the money bill fails then you reckon it will be business as usual. Or the Prime Minister will call for mid-term elections!"
"Making hay while the sun shines?"
"Right, so you reckon this latest spat between the PPP and MQM would end as previous ones?"
"Yes, because the PPP needs the MQM to ensure that the government in the centre does not fall. A phone call of Zardari to Altaf Bhai ensures that."
"Ah yes."
